Balconi SpA is a large Italian company specialising in the production of sponge cake desserts, wafers and biscuits. Founded in 1953 by the confectioner Michele Balconi, then very young, it grew relentlessly, transforming from a simple little store to a company with turnover of over 160 million Euros, operating successfully and present on the global market. An all-Italian success story made possible by the passion of those who have worked for us and by the entrepreneurial spirit and courage of our founder.

Our philosophy

When, in 1953, Michele Balconi decided to transform his pastry shop into a confectionary company, he had a clear and precise idea in mind: to offer to mothers and their children an industrial product of handcrafted quality.

A wholesome product, made with high quality ingredients, but sold at a “reasonable” price. Since then, more than 60 years have passed, but the philosophy that guides the company has not changed: to offer to our consumers a good and high quality product at an affordable price.

Our ingredients

We believe that goodness is synonymous with natural: this is why we only use high quality ingredients. For example, our eggs are fresh and of Italian origin. All our products are “GMO free” and do not contain hydrogenated fats, colorants or added preservatives.
We perform strict quality controls using the most modern technologies, to ensure the highest quality standards and safety throughout the whole production chain.

Industrial process, handcrafted quality

How do you offer the best quality at a reasonable price? By making intelligent decisions. By reducing production costs to a minimum, completely automating the production processes and avoiding waste. Our 2 factories covering an area of about 38,000 square metres and employs 186 workers on 8 production lines, operating 24 hours a day. Every day we produce a good 5,000,000 snacks: as many as the inhabitants of Berlin, Chicago or Madrid!

Our quality control

Our main objective is to protect consumers, ensuring the quality and safety of all our products.

      Every year more than 30,000 controls are done on:

  • – semi-finished products
  • – finished products
  • – environmental controls

Our certifications

      All Balconi’s products and internal processes have obtained the highest national and international certifications in relation to quality and safety in order to ensure the maximum satisfaction of its customers. The main ones include:
